Our Curriculum
Learning Without Limits
Our Kura Toa Learning Model
At Kura Toa, learning is guided by our Know, Be, Do, approach.
This interconnected framework enables rangatahi champions to develop their deep knowledge, sense of identity, and apply learning with purpose and real-world meaning.
-
Focus Labs
Champions build new knowledge and understanding through focused learning. They gain the skills and ideas needed to make sense of the world around them.
This academic foundation helps them grow in confidence, think clearly, and take on new challenges with purpose.
-
Āhua Labs
Champions develop the qualities and ways of being needed to navigate the world with confidence. They build key strengths such as courage, resilience, integrity, and self-belief, enabling them to respond to challenges and contribute positively in different contexts.
-
Life Labs
Champions put their learning into action.
They apply what they know and who they are in practical, meaningful ways. With a strong sense of purpose and connection, they contribute to their whānau, their communities, and the wider world as confident global citizens.
Who is Kura Toa For?Kura Toa is for rangatahi champions in Year 7-13 and their whānau who are motivated in an education approach grounded in identity, purpose and real pathways for the future.
We partner with rangatahi and whānau who align with our Ngāti Toa grounded curriculum and our focus on growing confident, capable champions committed to the values of the kura. This means actively engaging in learning and supporting the learning of others.
Our environment enables this through smaller class sizes, mixed-ability learning, and a strong tuakana–teina approach. With specialist provision for those who experience the world in different ways, our champions are set up to succeed and thrive.
Together, we are building respectful, confident, and capable champions, ready to make their mark in the world.
