Welcome to Kura Toa, an iwi-led kura shaped by who we are and where we’re going.
Through innovative learning design and flexible teaching approaches, we support our champions to grow a strong sense of identity, purpose, and possibility.
Our Story
Kura Toa has been created to enable choice for rangatahi to experience success in their educational journey.
It builds on a wider vision led by Ngāti Toa Rangatira to reshape education so it better supports rangatahi and whānau.
Through years of work with Te Puna Mātauranga, the Ngāti Toa education support hub for rangatahi Years 0–13, we have seen the strength of iwi and community working together to create meaningful, responsive educational pathways.
Kura Toa has been shaped by these experiences, creating a more flexible and meaningful pathway that supports rangatahi to grow in confidence, identity, and real-world capability.
Our Learning Model
At Kura Toa, learning is guided by our Know, Be, Do, approach.
This interconnected framework enables our rangatahi champions to develop deep knowledge, strengthen their sense of identity, and apply their learning with purpose and real-world meaning.
Who is Kura Toa For?Kura Toa is for rangatahi champions Year 7-13 and their whānau who are motivated in an education approach grounded in identity, purpose and real pathways for the future.
